Open your portfolio and simply ask yourself these 3 questions:
1️⃣ Does each project clearly show what I did and why it mattered?
Not just tasks—impact. Where did you lead? Where did you contribute? Don’t hide it behind “we” statements; hiring managers want to know your* role and influence. So make it obvious. This is not the place to be shy.
2️⃣ Are my case studies telling a compelling story?
Case studies should read like a narrative, not a checklist. Hiring managers don’t want to see a typical design process template. We want to know why* you chose each step and what value it brought. What was the challenge? What was messy? What changed during the process?
3️⃣ Is my unique value immediately clear?
What’s the angle that only you bring? Make it unmistakable—right up top.
⚠️ If you’re squinting or hesitating on any of these, it’s time to roll up your sleeves. You don’t need more projects; just better storytelling and clearer positioning.
